The law that prevents rainwater harvesting over there goes back 120 years. The law states that sif rain falls on your property and goes downstream into some one elses land it technically belongs to them. This would mean you are taking it from them. The good news Colorodo and Utah are in the process of updating this old law as they feel its a bit out of touch with the modern world to make the completely legal.
